From Middle Dutch lichame, lechame, from Old Dutch lichamo, from Proto-West Germanic *līkahamō, from Proto-Germanic *līkahamô (“body, bodily frame, corpse”), equivalent vĩ đại lijk (“body, lich”) + haam (“covering, cover”).
